12.04.13 Trying to organise a UK PCC get-together - see my blog post !http://pcc.pm/profiles/blogs/pcc-get-together-in-the-uk-interested

It's happened in the shape of the Woodsetton School Playmobil Exhibition (16-17.2.14)

Hi, I'm Nick, married with 3 children, living in London, UK.

I've been collecting Playmobil since my first born was around 4 years old, and I also played with it as a child in the '70s, when it was 'Playpeople' here in the UK.

I thought I should do something with my Playmobil rather than just hoard it, and eventually I created a 48 page comic children's book called 'The Green Man' about the time-travelling adventures of Thomas Swift, which is now available to read on YouTube in English, French, German and Spanish.  I also plan to put a flip book version up on the internet for people who don't want the music and sound effects!  (Thomas Swift Productions is a totally non-commercial venture.) So, although I finished the book over a year ago, converting it into a video has given me a whole new creative outlet, and believe me, it's a lot of work. I hope to complete the project by the end of the year.

I was the winner of the first 'My Story' competition on Playmobil's Facebook page, winning the entire School theme! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpAKjQma35k&feature=player_embedded

I collect all themes - which is a bit of a problem space wise and money wise!  I'm now falling behind with the new stuff.  I have a lot of rare items, and quite a few armies, as well as a comprehensive collection of sets, but relatively only a small amount of it is MISB - I can't bear not to open a box - I love assembling Playmo!

I particularly enjoy exclusive or limited edition sets with special vehicle/accessory colourways or klickies.

I collect everything from year dot, but I do have a soft spot for the Medieval and Western ranges from the 1990s.

On my website I've been putting together a photographic record of every klicky bare-headed hairstyle - the ones where you don't need to put a hat on it!

It now looks like I'll be regularly doing a Playmo Display at Woodsetton School in Dudley. Our first event was held in Feb 2014 and we are already planning the next one!

If you would like to read The Green Man / Der Grune Mann / L'homme en vert / El Hombre de Verde as an electronic book, or presented as an audio-visual slideshow, see http://www.thomasswiftproductions.co.uk/read-the-green-man.php

PCC Get Together in the UK - interested?

Posted on April 12, 2013 at 12:17pm 24 Comments

Anyone in the UK interested in having a Playmo meet to discuss the hobby, show off customs, etc. - or even organise a display?  Could be the start of something bigger?

The first meet may be very small - as I think there are only around 20 to 25 members in the UK, but I've been to / helped organise get-togethers from 3 to 30 people and they are always fun.

Send me a message or post your…

Oh good I'm glad your pleased because they are cery good and thank you for replying to my comment I believe all these ideas would be good and it's Germany's loss if they won't let you publish it over there due to music copyright. Have you ever considered completing it and publishing it as a paper back book for distribution/sale as I believe there is a market for playmobil stories which playmobil are not fully saturating as they have only made little short stories to sell the current products but this has a lot of potential and it is all in the detail! But I do believe I would miss the sound effects especially the music behind each scene.

All the best Connor PS how long does it take to set up a scene? :D

Wow that's commitment and I agree without deadlines some things might never be completed, especially while studying for A levels and the gold D of E, playmobil sometimes gets sidelined. The scenes are absolutely brilliant and worth all the effort and time spent getting the images perfect as it really shows when watching. I managed to watch these is 2 sittings 3 episodes at home and the other 3 I watched while stopping with a friend in London but both times I came away wanting to play with my playmobil and start taking images ect of my sets and customise Playmobil to make it better (hopfully) lol how do you manage to budget for your Playmobil spends? I usually get told off and to save for a car lol

Haha year 13 is that second year of college? Studying A2's and yes eBay although I'm under age for eBay I got addicted to bidding on Playmobil and have had some good bargains which has not helped my addiction lol that's a great idea to make Playmobil re-consider your book proposal and I would be honoured for you to use my comments on your website or in emails, on the condition you let me know how you get on and ask me if I can be of any assistance in aiding you to get your book published ;) also if you are successful I would love to buy one from you as I believe these are outstanding in quality and that children would love to read these. As for the children going hungry and cloth less this is just part of being a good Playmobil fan ;) it would be nice if they catered for a less expensive marke like they are doing with the F?gures because my starting with Playmobil was with a £1.99 special from my local toy shop, these are now £3.99 which makes a difference when deciding upon testing a toy with a child and it has paid off for playmobil as I have spent much more than that now lol

Thanks again Nick and best of luck! Your friend Connor.

That's great good luck to both your son and daughter I'm studying AS's at the moment and A2's next year. It's a really shame they are not into Playmobil with you having a large collection to choose from. The f?gures are really great value and I agree the independent toy shops don't seem to stock them locally probably because they do not get enough customers and that's really great that your specials are still £2.50 it must be the local toy shop not getting enough customers as I believe there is only one local toy shop who has a good range of Playmobil where I live.

That's good that you are trailing the book on EBay and amazon and it would be good if Playmobil let you publish but I understand you've tried your best with them and maybe they will re-consider in the future. That's great that your first bit of recent Playmobil was the green musketeer (Thomas)so did he just shout out to you when you saw him? Probably the best £2.50 you've spent considering the videos you have made from him :D I watched chapter 7 late last night and I really enjoyed it,(SPOILER ALERT) I bet the country scenes took ages to develop! ;) I always knew the dhl vans were dodgy ;) but I was so shocked when I saw Thomas's bad driving at the end of the episode, I hope he's alright the silly musketeer, I'm sure his air bag has saved him and with all the police around I think he will make a full recovery but I think the boat will escape with the packages :( let's just hope the police helicopter can track the boat with the other police boats. I really enjoyed this episode, however I am now waiting for the 8th episode, when will this be released to view? :D
